"On a particularly cold, sunny but dry day 5 intrepid
Harriers ran the Folksworth 15. Situated in north west Cambridgeshire, the
Folksworth 15 has become the traditional opener for the year and a must for
those going on to the London Marathon, only 12 short weeks away.
The start just outside the village is on a deceptive down hill section where ice
was the main challenge. Unfortunately very quickly the terrain changes to
a short hill before the first of the
2 big hills is encountered. Once that is overcome, a flat open couple of
miles with the wind behind is so quickly over before dropping down to a small
hamlet called Caldicote. Once
down, there is only one way and that is up, and it is up one of those
hills which is steep at first, but flattens out but goes on and on and on.
Eventually the top is reached and the route turns back to Folksworth before the
whole lot is repeated again, except the second time around the hills seem much
harder.
So early in the year, times are not important (for some), just the
opportunity run a challenging race over a good course and finish in one
piece and look forward to the next race".
