50th Tanners 30
4th July 2010

Unofficial Result

Rob Bishop 5.52.00
Noel Jones 6.25.00

The event was first put on in 1960 by the Tanners Hatch youth hostel and subsequently by the Tanners Marathon Association. After 50 years the organising committee is retiring the event making this the last one. The course was written instructions, which I particularly enjoy, with an outline map that showed we were going roughly North West for 15 miles and little else. There was a strong turn out by the usual suspects that I have come to know at these events including of course Rob Bishop! The course was fairly sheltered often being in woods or along tree lines and a gentle breeze kept the temperature down for the most part. We were presented with some fabulous views making the climbs up to them well worth it. I enjoyed chatting to many people as our paces overlapped though the one navigational glitch occurred when I was chatting and not paying attention to the instructions. Thankfully that was less than a mile extra.

6 hours 25 minutes and my 20th marathon of 2010
