Noel Jones and Rob Bishop took part in the Enigma Track Marathon this weekend over at Stantonbury in Milton Keynes. This was the 4th in the "Enigma" series of marathons in support of Brathay Trust who organise the the 10-in-10 that I am doing in May. It was a very friendly field, with 5 of next years 10-in-10 competitors present and a good number of "the usual suspects".

Before the race there was a good deal of banter about the signage and whether there was indeed a right turn after 16 miles. I found it surprisingly tough despite it being a perfectly flat course. I think the fact that it was completely flat meant there was no natural variation in pace, also one tended to get drawn along by the front runners a bit more than usual. On the positive side you were never far from other runners and supporters. The event was won by Adam Holland in a staggering 2 hours 37 minutes (who by no coincidence won the 10-in-10 last May with an average time of 3 hours 2 minutes). It's not often that I get to see Adam run for more than a few seconds but this time I saw him every couple of laps - he lapped me before I'd completed my second lap!!! Thanks to David Bayley (MK Lakeside Runners) for organising it, Sylvia Jones for Lap counting and Lesley Guest for watering us and getting some great photos. Here's one of me in the lead (cough).

Noel.
