This was my first marathon with written instructions back in 2008 and I thought it was time to go back for another go at it. It was an early alarm to get down to Good Easter for registration and to jump on the buses which took us over to Cold Christmas. The instructions were somewhat abbreviated with instructions such as TR X EB AH LHFE (turn right cross earth bridge go ahead on the left hand field edge). I'd rather they were a little more verbose but that aside it was a great route and I only made one mistake by following a large group of runners despite my instincts telling me it was the wrong way. Food and hot drinks was laid on at checkpoints and the quiche at the last point was a very nice surprise and welcome boost. At the finish the Springfield Striders had laid on jacket potatoes with chilli, rice pudding and yes, more tea. My time in 2008 - 4:53!! Interestingly, I ran my marathon PB two weeks later back then.... I wonder..
