Bob Wells 2.02.20

At my third attempt at the Trail des côteaux de Bellevue ( http://www.runningtrail.fr/pages/article 202-Trail-des-coteaux-de-Bellevue.htm ) I smashed the 2-hour barrier - but unfortunately from the wrong side! I took 2:02:20 for the 21 very muddy kilometres. As well as slipping round the course I also slipped down the classifications - 119th finisher and 3rd in my MV3 category this year.

The mud was not at all like Bedford brick clay but I imagine it would be ideal for wrestling (a sport I haven't attempted). At one point I could only progress by pulling on the provided slippery rope. However, throughout there was a lot of welcome mutal physical and vocal support amongst the mid-fielders. My Harriers' vest can be seen at http://lh6.ggpht.com/-CjINaFBcCtU/Twh9u5yGjXI/AAAAAAAAXC4/BTmwBtnCFoA/s144/IMG_9547.jpg but  this was taken before I left a full body impression in the aforementioned skin treatment.

As is something of a regional tradition, there was a draw at the end of the prize-giving and I 'won' the big prize - a 350euro electric oven. Very nice indeed - but I feel a washing machine would have been more appropriate
