This has to be my toughest race by far purely because of weather and
fierce competition (this was an age group qualifier for London). First
time I experienced a run in swim start, rutland waters was very choppy
almost waves today let's say it was like being in a washing machine and
I'm not talking a delicate wash! They shortened swim by 100m whoop skip!
Only coz the buoy had moved I'm sure I added on a 200m anyway. Then
straight onto bike into the strong head wind being over taken by longer
legs and bigger thighs my light weight was not given me an advantage(only
on the hills :-)). It was a relief to get tail wind behind for bit this
was fantastic got down on tri bars at a steady 26mph for a while was just
what I needed even the road speedometer said thank you! the sun comes out
and I start to have some fun. Then back into head wind into T2. Needless
to say I'm exhausted I was before i started but then 1half ironman an off
road sprint tri a standard distance tri all within 3 weeks what do I
expect, a serious look at my training plan I think! Just want to say a big
thank you to hubby and kids for supporting me today and getting up at
5.15am. And also to Mark Lowe for lending me his lovely wheels, which were
easy to put on but can't seem to get them off ;-). Gosh this is almost a
blog! |
