Today I took part in the Great Kibworth Run and completed the half marathon in 02:39:39 Garmin time (http://connect.garmin.com/activity/383142702) although my Garmin showed only 12.89 miles. This was my slowest road half marathon of the year but with a cold and on the back of two previous halves in the previous two weekends (Great North on the 15th and Royston on the 22nd) and being my individual race number 43 this year what should I expect!!

The run started in Kibworth just off the A6 between Market Harborough and Leicester and comprised a fun run, a Powerwalk, a 1/3 marathon (8.75 miles) and the half marathon. After leaving the start the route did a lap of Kibworth where the support was great, although I suspect this was more reserved for the kids on the fun run. We went out into the hilly Leicstershire Countryside passing through the villages of Smeeton, Saddington and Gumley (well these are the ones I remember). I say hilly as the hills did not seem to go down much, apart from the last couple of miles) but did offer spectacular views. The route was well signposted and the ample waterpoints were well manned by cheerful marshals. The race was let down with the finish in that for a half marathon the medal was rather naff and there were no goody bags (only cups of water and a cupcake). As much as enjoyed it, and it was a new race to 'tick off' I may revert to running Nottingham half at the end of next September.
