Held in the shadow of Ely Cathederal the Ely Sprint Tri was held at the
Kings School in Ely and consisted of 300m, a 21km cycle around the Suffolk
Countryside and a 2-lap challenging 5km off-road run. The swim was 12
lengths of 25m in the school's outdoor pool with swimmers going off in 30
second intervals. From the pool their was a short run into the transition
area and after donning helmet, shoes and Harriers top it was out of
transition and once past the bike mounting line the cycle moved ut of Ely
out to the A10 and once off this road the route followed country roads
into Coveney and then towards Wentworth and Witchford before returning to
Ely via the A10 /A142 and a short climb back to the school. After the
second transition we embarked on the 5km run which was a 2-lap challenging
course through a wooded area leading to running around a sports field and
then back through the wooded area to a second sports field. This was my
taste of triathlon and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it and am
looking forward to my next one at the end of September.
