Report: Bedford Harriers boasted a larger team for our second attendance at the third EVAC meeting in Sandy making a big difference to our score and finishing position . It was another enjoyable and fun night with the whole team putting in a massive effort and really getting into the spirit of things by often competing in totally new events all in the pursuit of valuable points for the team. Despite being new to track and field we claimed a number of victories with many solid performances across a wide range of events. The mens team finished in a brilliant 3rd position and the ladies teams finished in a much improved 5th position, only just missing out on 4th by 4 points. Not bad for a running club! All our athletes acquitted themselves well with everyone competing in at least 2 events with Paul Harris, Gill Fullen, Dave Holt and Neil Lovesey competing in four thereby contributing greatly to our team score. Bedford Harriers are gathering momentum now and getting to grips with this track and field business! Highlights of the evening included Sally getting our points tally off to a good start with second in the 1k walk despite never doing the event before, Gill winning the 300m hurdles having only ever practised over horsey jumps in the garden, our solo 60+ competitor Neil Lovesey winning the long jump with 3.78m,the furthest Harriers jump of the night and Gary Butler beating a world champion and gloriously winning the 400m! There were many other solid performances including all 3 relay teams successfully transporting the baton round in the 4 x 100m relay. Well done to the whole team - bring on the next and final EVAC meeting in Bedford on July 29th. EVAC 2015 League at Sandy Results The totals were missing the Relay's - corrected (see below)
