A glorious spring morning for this double circumnavigation of the Isle of Portland starting from the National Sailing centre built for 2012. An interesting mix of terrain provided a challenging course with stunning views out to sea and across to the Chesil beach and the cliffs of the Jurassic coast as the route threaded its way through disused limestone quarries and along clifftop paths (interrupted by a 4.5 mile flat slog to and fro along the causeway leading towards the mainland!). Reversing the second lap to give an alternative experience of the ups and downs and the scenery worked well. Richard |
