Well done to all the Harriers taking part in the EMAC league this year. What a successful second season we had! Our team has tripled in numbers at times as has our points score. Huge improvement and it's all thanks to the efforts and willingness of all of you to do all you can to have a go and collect points We consistently had a good team turning out with most events being filled at every match. EMAC Match 4

Wednesdays meeting provided our best result of the four matches. We earned points in all but one event (which we didn't have a competitor in) – absolutely superb effort by everyone and what a difference that made. Particularly well done to those in the field events that often required a new set of skills being learnt fairly quickly! Valuable points were earned by those getting over that high jump bar, making it into the triple jump pit and landing the javelin and discus in the grass. Special mention to Anna Litchfield for winning the javelin, well done! – wow! Our first field event winner this season (please correct me if I'm wrong).

Some of you have being quietly turning out for the club in the jumps and throws at all or most of the matches and gaining lots of points for us, you haven't been on display like the track runners so often haven't received the same amount of support and applause but you are equally valued members of the team and deserve lots of credit. It's been a really great team effort all round.

The ladies team finished third again but only 6 points behind Milton Keynes and 16 behind FVS, the top two teams who will be going through to the league final. Fantastic! Just shows what we can do when we put a full team out. We were third in all 4 matches and with the points accumulated from each match we finished 3rd in the league. A massive improvement on last year and a place in the top two is really something for us to aim for in the future.

The mens' team did so well that not only did they finish 3rd for the first time this season but gained enough points on FVS to overtake them in the final league table and finish 3rd overall. Well done chaps – what a great result.

Such is our improvement in the league and our turn out we even got a special mention from the league organiser, Monica Brown in her wrapping up email;

Finally, thank you as team managers for getting the teams together, which I know is no easy task, and ensuring that we have friendly but competitive events. Special well done to Bedford Harriers who seem to increase in numbers each month!

Well done and thanks again to all of you. See you next year!
