It was a very well organised race, lots of marshalls and whilst it's all on
forest cycle tracks (apart from a bit at the start in the village of Parkend)
there was a reasonable amount of support as well, on what was described as an
undulating course. It was that, and then some. At a couple of places we were
zig-zagging up the side of hills because they were too steep for a straight road
up. I knew I was going to struggle a bit because I'd done my weekly 20 mile run
on the Friday (don't like to miss out on running the stupid distances) but it
was a great atmosphere and in spite of the hills, a nice course. I was pleased
with my time and achieved a top 50 finish which meant I got a special finisher's
t-shirt (outside of the top 50 you had to buy your own but they were very well
priced and technical too). I was waving my t-shirt at my brother as he finished,
which for him, only compounded the mikey-taking me and my other brother achieved
the previous day (see attached photo).
