Phil Gray's Race Report
'What a weekend as
yours truly and many more from the club appear to have spent the whole weekend
at Wootton Upper School for the inaugural Bedford Harriers Half Marathon at
Wootton. It was a hectic weekend as I had to deal with Fun Run as well. It was
an incredible sight as well in excess of 1000 prepared for the start at a
little after 11a.m. I have never seen such numbers for a Harriers race before. A
day to remember as I concluded the Fun Run, with at least 50 participating
before moving to the Finish area to capture some of the action on camera. Hugh
Lobb of Beds and County did the business in an excellent 69 minutes to secure
victory, with fellow County man, Steve Herring second in 71 minutes. Stuart
Bartlett was 1st Harrier home. It was an incredible atmosphere as one and all
concluded a demanding 13.1 miles. Refreshments the order of the day for all
concerned. A mega thanks to all who made the whole event possible and to the
driving force behind it, Steve Crane'
