have returned from their Himalayan Trip! |

They trekked for
10 days in Nepal and then headed for Darjeeling to compete in the 5
day Himalayan 100 mile Stage Race (which included on day 3 the Mount
Everest Challenge Marathon)
Viv Kilgour
was first lady in the Mount Everest Challenge Marathon
and finished second lady overall in the Himalayan
100 Mile Stage Race.

Day 1: Sunday
4 November 2001 24 miles assent 5,215 ft to 11,815
ft (note: Ben Nevis is 4,406 ft). Winner :
4hr 25min Viv 6hr 5min (4th lady) Col 8hr 47min
Day 2:
Monday 5 November 2001 20 miles. Winner
: 2hr 40min Viv 3hr 42min (3rd lady) Col 5hr 4min
Day 3:
Tuesday 6 November 2001 26.4 miles Mount
Everest Challenge Marathon: Winner
: 4hr 13min Viv 5hr 47min (1st lady)
Col 7hr 49min (1st V50)
Day 4:
Wednesday 7 November 2001 13 miles: Winner
: 1hr 31min Viv 1hr 55min (2nd = lady) Col 2hr 26min
Day 5:
Thursday 8 November 2001 17 miles: Winner
: 2hr 10 min Viv 2hr 44min (2nd lady) Col 3hr 23min
Overall 100 miles:

Viv had a splendid run despite
starting the week with a respiratory infection.
Colin thinks he may have performed a
bit better if he hadn't had the trots for the whole 5 days and survived mainly
on soup !!! (Still a great performance though - Ed)
The race enabled Colin and Viv to see 4 of the 5
highest mountains in the world (Everest, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu). Quite
a privilege.
