I managed to win 1st MV60 with 45:18 in the Morpeth Harriers' New Year's Day 11km race but I am afraid that, although the winner recorded a very impressive 33:41, this race is a weak shaddow of the former Morpeth-Newcastle Road Race which can no longer get police support for several thousand runners on the A1. On this fine day there were only 123 finishers (I was 43rd) of the hilly rural circuit.
I was somewhat surprised to see another Bedford vest at the start (albeit without the "Bedford"). Apparently the Harriers have the same yellow-with-black-band vest design as Jarrow and Hebburn AC! This was/is Steve Cram's club and it looks to me as though he wore his club colours when breaking the 1500m world record in Nice in 1985
