Latest Parkrun was Sheringham. They just get more scenic every week.
Highly recommended, biggest and friendliest welcome I've had at a Parkrun
for a while. This multi terrain run takes place in a National Trust Park,
It starts on firm compacted paths on a long down hill stretch before
heading up through the forest and coming out into the open with lovely
views of the sea. Turning left along sandy paths with views of the railway
siding (complete with engines) and more sea views before heading back into
the forest to complete the second half of the run which is very
"undulating". Through some squishy mud and up towards the long up hill
section at the end lovingly called "heart break hill" by Sheringham
Parkrunners, due to the fact that as you get to the top of the hill (which
is a pretty long drag) you turn the bend to see another long up hill
section before the finish. My time was a bit down on the usual which I
wasn't sure whether to attribute to the course, the previous night's
circuit session or to the "run every day in December challenge"
The cross country at East Haddon on Sunday saw me injure myself after
about 600yrds which sort of answered my question.... running everyday, for
me, is not a good idea. This old runner's body definitely needs rest days
to recover. lesson learned, but whether said lesson will be remembered is
another question!.
