Colworth half marathon is part of a three day running and camping event containing three races, Friday evening five miles, Saturday lunch time 8.1 miles and Sunday morning a half marathon, which add up to a marathon. What a great idea for anyone who might want to try a staggered marathon distance.

Entering on the day I arrived good and early, there were lots of friends to chat to, free iced tea, ice cream, massages and all sorts available.

Soon we were starting the first of a two lap course, it undulating, a bit technical and certainly a challenge. The first mile was pretty much all up hill. Part of the course goes close to the perimeter of Santa Pod raceway and the noise was amazing as we ran by. Around fields, through woods, up slow inclines this race has it all.  I completed the first lap in 57 mins and was reasonably pleased with that so ploughed on for a second. The day was warm and breezy and it wasn't an easy run. The second lap seemed to pass a little quicker than the first and I was becoming more determined to get under two hours.

Finally I was on the last steep descent and then hill up to the finish round a playing field. I crossed the line in under two hours which is a course best by a good 14 mins. Delighted with that. We all received a nice mug for finishing.

A good running weekend for me, and a few other Harriers from what I can see too!
