Bob Wells 40.16 2nd V60

The temperature in Toulouse dropped suddenly this weekend. So much so we even had frost. Therefore, It was possibly appropriate that the 10km at Ramonville is organised by the local firemen.

They created a pleasant, warm welcoming atmosphere and attracted 825 entries (not counting a  supporting 5km and children's races).  This was really too many for the chosen start which was as congested as I have seen. (I didn't manage to catch the 45 minute pace group until 2km. Apart from that I quite enjoyed the course and got to see a pleasant section of the Canal du Midi new to me. I finished in 40:16, 2nd in my vet's category but nearly 9 minutes behind the rapid winner.

The prizes were very generous. In addition to a 30euro voucher from a running shop I benefitted from Mercedes' sponsorship with an extremely appropriate body warmer and gloves, pen and, somewhat less appropriate, cigarette lighter!

There were more good prizes, including a mountain bike, in the draw. To add to my haul I was lucky enough to collect some Adidas clothing and bags. All in all, an enjoyable morning if not quite as fast as I would have liked.
