It was a good
drive along many country roads to get to the Henham 10K today and the weather
was lovely. Although Henham 10K is also known as a fun run, there were plenty of
participants from clubs to the village locals. The children's race was also 10K,
starting at the same time as ours and along the same route.
If you can imagine the Colworth 8.1 trail crossed with the hills in the St
Albans Half, this was what the course was like except more mud and
less distance. There were a couple of loose gravel hills to climb up and down
too, thrown in for 'good measure'.
The water stations were spread every 2.5k and the
majority of marshalls were helpful and friendly. I thoroughly enjoyed this race
(now that would shock a few as I'm not a fan of cross country) and for some
reason the organisers had me down in the Ladies 16 - 25 category, which is very
flattering, but sadly I am not that young! A t-shirt and banana was given to all
adult finishers whilst the children received medals. I cannot even say what the
winners received as I had already made my way to the BBQ and beer tent by then.
