Last weekend several Harriers discovered that Norfolk is not as flat as they thought. This week I painfully found the same about the Haute Garonne department of France.
I was unable to get to Nice to join the Steve Crane Tri-athlonTraining Camp so I decided to run the half marathon at Pechbusque which is within cycling distance of my home in Toulouse. The race flyer mentioned that the course was on roads between 150 and 270 metres elevation. I thought 400 feet of climbing would be a bit challenging but did not realise that the course yo-yo-ed between these elevations four times with no flat sections at all! I puffed my way round in 1:35:21, 17th overall/152 and 1st V60 -
I haven't done such a hilly half since Buxton in 2002!
