Squeaky Bone, 4 leg Cross Country Relay.

7 Bedford Harriers teams, all gone to the dogs!

On a cool but sunny day, at Newton Lodge, Clifton Reynes, Nr Olney Bedford Harriers turn out in force at the Olney Runners Squeaky Bone and can boast some really good successes.

The stand out runner of the day (for me) was from Chris Dilley. He took on the first leg, set a great pace, going into the first corner in 3rd place and slowly worked himself up into 1st. Flying into the finishing field in with a good 300m in front of the 2nd man. Chris ran the 3.5 course in 20m 2 seconds – 11 seconds faster than any other runner. This helped to deliver an overall win for the Bedford Harriers (Poodles).

Another victory for the Bedford Harriers was run by the Whippets, winning the mix veteran team prize and the Bedford Harriers Shih Tzus came second in the Ladies event. Also worth noting was the effort put in by the Dalmatians– going spotty for the day, complete with wet noses and whiskers.

Big thanks to the Olney Runner for a great event with spot-on cakes, fudge and teas. Well done to EVERYBODY who ran, same again next year

Alastair
